EXPERIENCE: Scott Mercer has been in the practice of law for more than thirty-three years. Mr. Mercer has extensive experience representing surety bonding companies in the areas of construction, probate bonds and miscellaneous bonds. His experience includes construction bonding in the private, state and federal sectors and has covered most of the continental United States. In addition to the representation of sureties, Mr. Mercer has represented numerous contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers in construction disputes, litigation and arbitrations. His practice has included both the prosecution of materialman’s liens as well as the defense of materialman’s liens.
Mr. Mercer has extensive experience in probate law, not only including estate planning, but also including the appointment and representation of conservators, the probate of wills and the administration of estates. Mr. Mercer has represented numerous banks and commercial creditors for debt collection. In addition, he handles foreclosures and dispossessory actions for lenders and property owners. Finally, Mr. Mercer has represented many purchasers of properties acquired at tax sales, including both the foreclosure of the right to redeem as well as quiet title actions to obtain marketable title to properties purchased at tax sales.
Mr. Mercer has been appointed numerous times by Courts to serve as a guardian ad litem, special master and as a receiver.

COURT ADMISSIONS: Mr. Mercer has been licensed to practice law in both Georgia and Florida since 1982. He is admitted to the Georgia Court of Appeals; United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia; and United States District Court, Middle District of Georgia.
